Shek O Beach Hong Kong

Shek O Beach Hong Kong 石澳泳灘 (sek6 ou3 wing6 taan1)
It is one of the largest and most popular beaches in Hong Kong.
It is located in the Southern District on the coast of Island Bay. Shek O is not only quite long (about 300 meters), but also very wide (about 100 meters). There are showers, changing rooms, toilets, a children’s playground, a parking lot, a small golf course, and there are many restaurants and shops in Shek O Village. There is also a barbecue area on Sekou, where, especially in the evenings, a lot of young people gather. The beach is clean; the water quality is average. There is only one place for paragliding in the vicinity of Sekou. Papaplaners usually take off from Dragon’s Back Mountain and land on Rocky Bay. The beach is crowded on weekends, so it’s better to come here on weekdays.
The sandy beach of Shek O Beach, surrounded by rocky cliffs, is located on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island.
There is a shark net in the sea, changing rooms, cafes, lifeguards, BBQ places.
Umbrellas and deck chairs can be rented. 300 m long and 90 m wide.
Personally, I liked this beach the most in Hong Kong – it’s small, cozy, and sparsely populated!

How to get there?
MTR Shau Kei Wan Station, Exit A3
Near Shau Kei Wan Subway Station (筲箕灣站) take minibus No. 9 to the destination, «Shek O Bus Terminus‎» (石澳巴士總站), which is located 100 meters from the beach. It takes 30-60 minutes to drive.
Or just take a taxi, as I did. The price of a taxi is not so exorbitant.
I was here in November 2014. The weather and the water were wonderful!
