Racetrack Happy Valley бIt was built in 1846 on the site of marshes that were previously used for farming. To prepare the area for construction, the area was drained and farmers were forbidden to grow rice there. The first races in Happy Valley were held on December 17, 1846. Although this racetrack is inferior in modernity and scale to Hong Kong’s second Sha Tin Racetrack, nothing compares to the excitement-charged atmosphere of Happy Valley.
Happy Valley is also home to the Hong Kong Horse Racing Museum, dedicated to the history of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and horse racing held here. The museum has a cinema and a gift shop.
How to get there?
Causeway Bay Metro station, exit A, from where you can take a minibus or walk to the racetrack. The cheapest and most interesting way to get there is to take the Happy Valley Tram double–decker for only 3 HKD.
It’s better not to worry and take an Uber.

2. Shatin racecourse Hong Kong It was built in the 1970s.
It takes 30 minutes to get there by taxi from Cimsachi.
I was at the races on September 28, 2025 and it was awesome!
