The world’s longest sea bridge (55 km = 34 miles) opened on July 1, 2018! We wanted to open it in 2016. Construction began in 2009. The controversial, scandalous and very expensive ($20 billion) project is coming to an end! In just 30 minutes you can get by car from Shanghai to Hong Kong! A special road detour has been made to switch from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic.
Of course, the bridge is toll—free, like almost all roads in China (with the exception of Hainan Island). The speed limit on the bridge is 100 km/h.
