West Kowloon railway station

West Kowloon railway station

West Kowloon railway station
香港西九龙火车站
Opened in September 2018, the new Hong Kong Railway Station connects more than 50 Chinese cities with FuXing high-speed trains to downtown Hong Kong.
The station has an Austin metro station, a bus terminal and a taxi stand.
In 2019, he often did not work because of the protests, then he did not work because of the coronavirus for 2.5 years. And finally, the station has become relevant since the spring of 2023!
First of all, it is worth noting the unique exterior design. Really impressive!

But inside it is the same dreary waiting room without any amenities and shops. Hot water and a toilet are what we deserve in 2023. I often saw a picture of some farmers boarding trains, even breaking through the turnstiles without showing their tickets. Full game. The staff was powerless and watched it with their mouths open. In my opinion, there have always been big problems with security in Hong Kong.

Location is cool. Besides the fact that you can just walk to Kowloon Park and the pier with StarFerry boats, I also note that next to the station there is a new area with a promenade, a concert hall and a new Palace museum. You can have a great time right at the train station, and Hong Kong’s tallest ICC skyscraper with a viewing platform and a bar is also here.

I have been to this train station over 30 times – it is really very convenient for its location.
I constantly travel from Guangzhou South Station to Kowloon West.
Travel time is from 53 minutes to 70 minutes.
The only disappointing thing is that ticket prices are quite high, there are few trains per day and, in this regard, tickets run out quickly. It is necessary to buy 2-3 days before the trip.
Previously, you had to travel from Guangzhou to Shenzhen, cross the Lohu-Lowu border and take a 40-minute subway ride to HungHom Station. Sometimes I took direct trains to HungHom, but very rarely (there are few trains and the price is high). I lived near the East Station, so it was basically fine.
Now I live half an hour from the South Station and get to Hong Kong as quickly as possible.
Kowloon West is generally very convenient!
But there is also a disadvantage.
Once you arrive at the train station, you need to cross the Chinese and Hong Kong borders. If it’s a weekend, there is always a very long queue of Chinese at the Hong Kong border through the border guards to the Visitors windows. You can often stand for 30-50 minutes. I used to have an APEC Business Travel card, and I applied for a Hong Kong E-channel and got through instantly. But the card’s expired and now I’m standing with everyone for a long time) Only I quickly pass the Chinese border on the E-channel.
On the return trip from Hong Kong to China, the process of entering the train station and passing the border guards is generally always very fast.
In general, Kowloon West has eclipsed HungHom Station and Lohu Crossing.
