Hong Kong is one of the most expensive cities in the world and the hotels here are expensive.
I’ve stayed in 40 hotels in Hong Kong and I’m sharing my experience!
1. Mini Hotel Central Hongkong
My very first overnight experience in Hong Kong was in 2014 and immediately overwhelming! The price was about 500 HKD per night, which was quite expensive in those days. I spent 4 nights there in a row.

The room is 3×2 meters. A shower, a bed right away, and that’s it. But the hotel in the Central area, 38 Ice house street, I remembered this address for the rest of my life. I don’t know why. Close to the whole SOHO hangout.
I have not booked this hotel anymore. The hotel is still open, the price is around 58 USD per night. I don’t recommend it.

2. Conrad HongKong
Hotel Conrad Hongkong located in complex Pacific Place on Hong Kong Island.

I have stayed at this Conrad Hongkong hotel about 5 times. I must say right away that it was always booked at a special rate for employees, so the price was 4 times lower than usual.
This is an important point because the hotel is expensive. And for its price, you can choose something else (but probably not better in terms of service).
What’s cool?
The breakfast is impressive. There is everything from food and drinks. Even the cutlery is spectacular!
The pool is outside. Very cool. Floating among the skyscrapers. The evening lighting is just a fire.
There is a decent Executive Lounge for owners of the HiltonHonors Diamond status. I’ve been there 3 times. A large selection of alcohol (free), but few snacks.
Very nice view of Victoria Bay.
The rooms are quite small, but not mini. We didn’t seem to be given a suite. At this hotel, you need to take a minimum of a suite for a full experience. Then we’ll have a super overnight stay in Hong Kong.
Well, the location decides. The coolest location!

3. Harbour Plaza Metropolis
Harbour Plaza MetropolisThis is a good-quality hotel with an adequate price (around 100 USD) in Hong Kong. I recommend it to everyone. And the location is great! I’ve stayed there 8 times.

The pool outside is nice with a Jacuzzi.
100 meters from the train station and the HungHom subway.
100 bucks is the minimum that should be considered for an overnight stay in Hong Kong.
And for 100 bucks you will get such a relatively luxurious hotel.
Because for 80-90 bucks, these are scary rooms in Chongqing Mantions or similar establishments with Hindus, Pakistanis. The reviews almost died.
These are dangerous places with zero service.
Raise your budget by 10-20 dollars and you are already at the Harbour Plaza Metropolis Hotel with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and nice rooms.
Yes, this price is not always the case, sometimes they raise up to $ 150. But usually the room costs around 100 bucks.
And this is the best value for money in Hong Kong!

What other hotels in Hong Kong are worthy of attention?
There are quite a lot of tired old 5-star hotels in Hong Kong, especially on the Kowloon TsimShaTsui peninsula. It’s a disgrace. These are almost all the hotels on the waterfront in Cimsachi. The rooms are small and old.
When choosing a hotel in any city in the world, you can not be disappointed by the simple logic of looking only at newly opened hotels (1-2 years ago).
Such hotels, even simple affordable 5-star ones, are an excellent choice.
Fresh towels, gloss and not broken faucets (but in many expensive hotels they still flow).
So look for new hotels and you won’t be disappointed. Well, the price, it’s more expensive to choose.
Because after a hard, unsuccessful day, the only thing that will calm you down is a comfortable hotel.

Two MacDonnell Road hotel Hongkong I chose it because it’s close to an area with nightclubs. But in fact, it’s not very close. I booked at a price of about 1100 HKD and was very disappointed with the room, breakfast, everything.
Dorsett Mongkok – It’s not bad on a budget. The location is also normal. I recommend it! Price is quality! I liked it for the price of less than 600 HKD.
Dorsett Kaitak – bad location, even though it’s a new hotel. I do not recommend it! I paid 2170 HKD for 2 nights.
Regal Hong Kong (Wanchai) – not a bad location. If the price is up to 100 USD, then you can stay overnight. But in general, without enthusiasm, I do not recommend it. I paid 1,116 yuan. I was a little relieved that my room was upgraded.
Empire hotel HongKong Causeway bay is a good location. If the price is up to 100 USD, then you can stay overnight. But in general, without enthusiasm, I do not recommend it. I paid 412 HKD, which is almost free by Hong Kong standards.
Alva hotel by Royal – very poor location. You think you’ll save on a hotel, and then you’ll spend a lot on a taxi. The sheepskin is not worth the effort! You can’t book hotels in this area!

Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui

The price tag was 1229 HKD.
The rooms reminded me of the old Shangri-La Hotel. The minibar was full.
The hotel occupies 9-24 floors of this skyscraper.
On the 9th floor there is a 360 degree garden-smoking room. on the 8th floor there is an outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
The pool is very nice!
The location of the hotel is top-notch. The hotel is adjacent to the K11 Artus shopping center

Harbour Grand Kowloon Hongkong
The hotel is located in Kowloon district. Not too far from TsimShaTsui. 30 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by taxi.
The location of the hotel is so-so.
I stayed at this hotel on September 5-6, 2025.
The pool in this hotel is fantastic! Outdoor pool overlooking Victoria Bay.
I took a room with a view of the bay, the room was large.

Stanford Hillview Hotel in the TsimShaTsui area
It stopped on October 17-18, 2025.

The location is the best you can think of! Next to the Peninsula Hotel.

Shangri-La Kowloon an old tired hotel with an amazing location. There is a Sheraton nearby – it is better to book it.
Langham Hongkong hotel in Kowloon with a good location. The rooms look very old. I saw them myself. A classic old 5-star hotel, well-worn! The hotel has a big problem with the lobby, even from the 5th time it is difficult to understand what’s what.
W HongKong. The hotel is for those who do not have enough money for the Ritz Carlton, but want at least some luxury. Side view of the bay. He doesn’t live up to his money. It’s better to pay extra for the Ritz Carlton.

Grit your teeth and pay for a decent hotel for the duration of your stay in Hong Kong, otherwise you will regret it!
100 USD is a horror
150 USD is a horror, but the location is a bit better
200 USD is terrible, but the location is good
250 USD – something decent starts, and that’s a stretch
300 USD – decent hotels, but very tired
350-400 USD – you can already live.

Keep in mind! There is no bottled drinking water in Hong Kong hotels!
There are also often no slippers, bathrobes, toothbrushes, or toothpaste.
And this is even in 5-star hotels!!!
