Lantau island Tung Chung Fort 東涌炮臺
Tung Chung Fort 東涌炮台
Built in Shun Hei era (淳熙, 1174–1189) During the Southern Song Dynasty
, soldiers were later sent to fight local smugglers and a fort was built.
The soldiers left and the pirates took over the fort.
In 1832, the fort was rebuilt. Then the pirates were driven out and the fort was empty.
During the Second World War, the place was briefly occupied by the Japanese.
The fort served as both a police station and the Wa Ying College building.
In 1979, the place was recognized as a cultural landmark and restored in 1988.
There are 6 old cannons here now.
Since this place is not far from boarding the funicular on Bolshoy Buddy, it’s better to come here in the morning!

Where is it located?
