Silvermine Bay Beach Hong Kong Lantau

Silvermine Bay Beach Hong Kong Lantau

Silvermine Bay Beach Hong Kong Lantau 銀鑛灣泳灘 (ngan2 gwong3 waan1 wing6 taan1)
It is located on the island of Lantau, surrounded by green hills.
The beach is 380 m long and 25 m wide
Admission is free; there are no sun beds
I was here in November 2014. The sea was contaminated with red chemicals, most likely quickly eliminated.
Nearby you can rent a bike and climb the mountain to the waterfall (if it has been raining recently, there will be a waterfall).
The beach is located in the southeast of Lantau Island (Hong Kong International Airport is located on the same island). The beach is natural, covered with light yellow fine sand. The infrastructure is relatively well developed: in the neighboring village there are restaurants, parking; on the beach there are free toilets, showers, changing rooms, barbecue area and beach volleyball. The beach is quite popular with both locals and foreigners.
It is one of the most peaceful beaches in Hong Kong with good water quality.
However, there may be a lot of people here on weekends during the summer months.
There are snack bars and restaurants here.
The only drawback of Silvermine Bay Beach is that the ferry may run infrequently in the evenings and on weekends.
If you don’t want to rush back to the city every evening, there is an inexpensive hotel nearby. Silvermine Beach Hotel.

On the ferry (ferry): to «Mui Wo Ferry Pier‎» (梅窩渡輪碼頭)
From the bus stops to the beach, you need to walk north along the coast for about 600 meters.
Duration: 50 minutes by ferry, while the trip itself will bring a lot of pleasure due to the beautiful scenery.
Option 2
By buses 1, 2, 3M, 4, A35, N1 and N35 to the stop «Mui Wo Pier Bus Terminus‎» (梅窩碼頭巴士總站)
