Museum of Art Hongkong 香港藝術館
Founded in 1962, the Hong Kong Museum of Art was first housed in the City Hall, moving to its current purpose-built facility in Tsim Sha Tsui in 1991. The Flagstaff Tea Ware House Museum, located in a Hong Kong park, also belongs to the museum.

The museum has a large collection of over 16,000 art objects, including Chinese paintings and calligraphy, Chinese antiquities and Chinese trade art, as well as works by Hong Kong artists. As a platform for international art exchange, the museum also presents a wide variety of thematic exhibitions drawn from major foreign museums and institutions.

To connect with the new stage of its development, the museum has been closed since August 2015 for major repairs and expansion of the project. The expansion will provide a new additional block with a gallery with a double height of 9 meters to accommodate monumental modern works of art. Two other galleries with high ceilings will be located on the extended roof of the building, which will increase the total exhibition area from about 7,000 m2 to about 10,000 m2.

The Hong Kong Museum of Art, with a completely new look, reopened in 2019, offering high-quality programs and exhibitions to the public. One of the museum’s main objectives is to promote art among the general public, as well as to continue a wide range of educational programs aimed at increasing visitors’ understanding and interest in artistic creation.
